Each year zen¹⁰ donates $1,000 to various charity organisations. As always it’s extremely difficult to choose any one charity to support but this year we decided to promote the welfare of bears in Asia.

Wikipedia describes the organisation this way : “World Animal Protection is an international non-profit animal welfare organization that has been in operation for over 50 years. The charity describes its vision as: A world where animal welfare matters and animal cruelty has ended.”

Though all animals, farmed or otherwise deserve better treatment, our donation was particularly motivated by the cruel and unnecessary practice of bile farming with asian bears. We hope our small donation goes some way to seeing the end of this unacceptable human behaviour.
